My #1 Tip to Increase Your Google Ranking
I have studied, read, worked and wrote on the topic of Search Engine Optimisation and also have real world success with increasing the  Google rankings of websites I have developed for a number of clients. For example, just 5 weeks ago, the website www.agmautosupplies.com was listed in Google on page 35 yet today it is near the top of page 2 when doing a search for Commercial Wing Mirrors. With more work it will very soon be on page 1 and hopefully given more time it will rank at the top.

My #1 tip to achieve this is to use a technique known as Anchor Text Optimisation, Before I write about what this is and how to use it effectively, it is important for you to understand the primary reason why Google ranks a website higher than others.

Backlinking
Google will rank websites according to a number of reasons but the primary factor is to count the number of links from other websites that link back to yours. Hence the term backlinks. Google takes this number and will rank your site according to how many of them are from quality sources. So basically, the more links you get from quality (highg ranking) sites like Youtube, Amazon, eBay, Facebook etc. the better.

Anchor Text Optimisation
Google’s algorithms are very complex and always being tweaked, therefore, these links not only need to be from quality websites but they also need to be relevant. For example linking to your electronics website from your eBay auction on an old sweater is a waste of time. Whereas linking to your electronics website from your eBay auction shop selling mobile phones is a definate YES!

The Anchor Text
This is the most important part of my tip. The Anchor text is the bit that is displayed on the web page and will be used by Google as the keyword. So, when I am improving my website www.bridalbelles.net on a particular keyword, the link needs to look like this, Chesterfield Wedding Shop.

There you have it, my tip. I hope you will put it to good use.

A div can be centred with the following CSS code;

With the margins centred, the browser is forced to give them equal distance from the edge.

Favicons are those tiny icons displayed in your favourites when rifling through your bookmarks. You also see them in the address bar.

Using them is important as it shows finesse and gives your site a sort of complete and well rounded feel. Most importantly it show that you pay attention to detail.

Now designing your favicon is actually quite tricky because the actual size is just 16×16 pixels. Yep, you read correctly just 16×16 pixels!

The problem most people will have is trying to fit the name of their business into such a small space. This will result in it looking not so nice and your efforts will have been wasted.

Hopefully you will have a company logo or mascott which can be shrunk down small enough to still be identifiable yet also fit into the workspace.

If you don’t have a logo or mascott then the best alternative is to use your company’s initial and surrounnd it in the company colours. This has been demonstrated perfectly by Google’s favicon. Google Favicon

Once your favicon is created, save it with the extension .ico and then all you have to do is upload it to the root of your website.

Give the server a few minutes to find it then open your site in a browser and voila!
